Thursday, July 12th was a night that Jo Ford of Nashville GA and the Alzheimers’s Association wont soon forget
After several months of publicity and eager anticipation from residents who were fortunate enough to possess one of the almost 400 tickets sold for this amazing ‘reverse raffle’, the evening at Merry Acres finally came. Cocktail hour started at 5:30PM as many attendees came direct from their offices and quickly filled up the restaurant area at Merry Acres Convention Center.
Alzheimer’s Association Staff were very excited to see such a huge turn out early in the evening. The doors to the main convention area were opened a bit early in an effort to help disburse the tightly packed, standing room only crowd.
Local entertainer, Faith Jackson performed what is probably her last show before she, like many other talented musicians from our area, packs her things and moves to Nashville, TN to pursue her dreams of becoming a successful recording artist.
The crowd continued to swell into the evening as the reverse raffle got started.
One by one, tickets were called. Many hopeful ticket holders saw their hopes of winning this classic 1966 Mustang turn to vapor early in the evening as still others clung to their tickets in the hopes of being the ‘last person standing’. Jo Ford of Nashville, GA was the holder of the winning ticket at the end of the evening.
Congratulations to the Alzheimer’s Association and a fantastic campaign that served both to raise awareness and money to help fight this horrible condition that affects so many of our citizens. This wonderful evening would not have been possible without the following sponsors.
