ALBANY UNCOVERED HAS RECEIVED NEW INFORMATION:
Dr Murfree was not ‘fired’. It seems he and the school board have been in negotiations for quite some time and the decision to end his employment with the DCSS was a mutual one that was pre arranged and agreed upon by both sides.
In a 4-3 vote, the school board agreed to accept his terms for stepping down effective Dec 18th. The full terms of that agreement can be found HERE and is worth a glance.
Just after lunch today, the Dougherty County School Board voted in a 4-3 vote to accept Dr Murfree’s terms and “mutually terminate” Dr Murfree.
Effective Dec 18th, Murfree and his bow tie will no longer be in charge of our failing school system. Due to his contract, the taxpayers of Dougherty County will still be on the hook for his pay until next June.
Murfree leaves behind a legacy of rampant cronyism, cleaning up from flagrant cheating on testing, free and reduced price school lunch abuse, payouts on contracts that were possibly illegal if he had not worked around loopholes in the guidelines, abuse of state Title funds and his final failure was when just days ago the State of GA put Dougherty County Schools on a ‘high risk’ status.
It’s about damn time Albany! Lets hope Dr Lane Price can really shake things up once she gets in there.
