Blues Inspired Southern Rock
Coming at you full speed ahead, this Southern Rock band is not to be missed!
Derrick Dove first played in a band when he picked up some drum sticks at the age of 9. His father ran a popular oldies band and Derrick quickly won a spot as the drummer in this band. About two years later, Derrick saw Stevie Ray Vaughn play on Austin City Limits and he put down the drumsticks forever.
Before graduating Tift Co High School in 2001, Derrick had formed his first band ‘Steel Roots’. Several more bands and many nights later, Derrick got a phone call to go on the road with then Nationally Touring Band ‘Michael Stacy’. 5 years passed, while this band played in almost every state. 250 shows a year started to take it’s toll on the band the band members relationships. Derrick decided to leave the band and get married. After a few years living in Nashville and making his contacts there, Derrick decided to more home and put together his own band, one created with his style in mind and filled with the best musicians available.
Two years ago, Derrick landed back near Tifton, GA and started working on his dream.
So far, this band has been lucky enough to open for Blackberry Smoke on multiple occasions, earning more and more exposure for this talented group of musicians.
Derrick counts among his influences; Stevie Ray Vaughn, Muddy Waters, BB King, Little Milton, Johnny Lang, and Kenny Wayne Shephard.
Derrick won the Tallahassee Guitar Center “King of the Blues Guitar Championship” last year and will be competiting again next week for the opportunity to win at the District level. Below, you can find a video of him playing his winning song.
Look for three hours of straight ahead driving Southern Blues Rock and Roll. In addition to his very talented band, Derrick is bringing extra lighting, a fog machine and several other effects that should make this a very memorable performance. Tonight’s performance will be recorded and anyone who signs up for his fan club will get a copy of the show!
