How I Quit Smoking

After trying multiple other methods with poor success, I’ve finally found what works

About two months ago, I was as a charity benefit for Jaxon at Cask and Kilt. One of the auction items was a gift certificate to a new store in town, TRUE VAPOR. For about a year prior, I had heard about these electronic cigarettes and had thought they might be the answer to getting off the ‘cancer sticks’. Last fall, I went to another merchant and bought one that looked just like a ‘real cigarette’. I found it reasonably satisfying but the taste was just not what I wanted. Not to mention, the little device kept breaking in my pocket, due to it’s poor plastic to metal joining of the filter to the battery. This device lasted me about 10 days before it was broken beyond use. I never made it back to that store to replace it, in part because it just didn’t taste very good.

I had heard that these vapor devices could be quite good and many people were stopping smoking with them, however I could only get one by ordering off the internet. Of course, I procrastinated. When I saw a local store had opened to service this niche, I bid several times on the gift certificate but lost due to a very last minute, sneaky bid by Lee Strenth. A couple weeks passed and I saw Lee had totally quit smoking the old fashioned cigs, as well as several other of my friends.

I decided to go visit the store and see what it was going to take to finally quit smoking.

Over on Westover Road, True Vapor sits in a shopping center right next to Honey Baked Ham. Walking into the store, it was a little barren but I suppose thats because they probably have more space than they actually need. A display case containing a wide selection of vapor devices in a assortment of colors is against one wall, and what I guess I have to call a ‘bar’ against the back wall. After answering a few questions, Alison took me back to ‘the bar’ and let me try several flavors of menthol because I was concerned I might not be happy with any flavors available. After trying about three, I found one that was pretty close to the particular type menthol that I’ve smoked for many years! Then after looking at a list of other flavors, I decided to see what smoking ‘vanilla cappuccino’ or ‘fruit mix’ might taste like. WOW, was I impressed, I realized almost instantly that I was going to need some of these flavors as well. Vaping the different flavors was certainly a new experience, heck the chocolate flavor would probably be great for people (girls usually) who get that I”VE GOTTA HAVE SOME CHOCOLATE NOW feeling on occasion. It was pretty easy to convince myself that these flavors were the ‘real thing’

Made from food quality flavors, these liquids are high quality and totally safe. Once you pick the flavor that you want, you then select the amount of nicotine that you want added to your personal mixture. In strengths up to 24mg (for the multi pack/day smokers) you can certainly get something strong enough to cure that nic fix that smokers often need. I understand that you can even get the flavors with no nicotine if you like.

I walked out of the store with a ‘starter kit’. Everything I needed to get started right away, along with a selection of ‘juice’. A large bottle of my beloved menthol and several smaller bottles of ‘flavors’, just to give a little variety.

While I initially thought I’d start right away, I tucked them away and decided to get settled in my new house first. Once I got started on these, my cravings went away almost instantly. On the very first night, I took it out to the bar with me for the ultimate test! Could I have an adult beverage or three and survive the need to smoke? Yep, no trouble at all. It was even nicer not to have to go outside and smoke, but be able to sit back at my table and ‘vape’.

I was a pack a day smoker. Over the course of a month, I was spending about 150.00 on cancer sticks. For much less than that, I got my entire starter pack which will last me at least a month and then I expect I’m looking at about $20.00 monthly for ‘juice’. Right now, I couldnt be happier with where I am. My sense of smell and taste are coming back. My clothes and hair dont smell like cigarettes either!

The bottom line is, it costs NOTHING to try this and see if it will work for you.
