How to Avoid the Fights in Albany

How to Avoid the Fights in Albany

The 4th is past, you’re home from the beach, your tan looks great – let’s get out and play safe this weekend!

Crazy from the heat? There have been several incidents recently around town that makes me wonder! Beginning with several men jumping another in the parking lot at Charlie B’s several weeks ago and ending with a ‘mob rules’ scenario downtown on the 4th. When police officers get pepper sprayed and hooligans bring guns to family gatherings it’s time to rethink what to do in this town!

Lets lay the cards out on the table! Cask and Kilt never has any violence. Big Rax had one incident just after they opened which involved a few Marines on the front porch and resulted in replacement of the fence around the smoking area. After that, owner Jarrett McIntosh beefed up security to the 9th degree and let it be known that violence at his venue results not only in a permanent banning, but also at least one night in jail. It seems these policies have worked as Albany Uncovered is unaware of ANY violence at these venues since that time.(by the way, the photo above has NOTHING to do with this article, just thought you girls would like it )

With that said, it’s very evident where to go in Albany to stay safe! Lets look at what is going on this weekend!

FRIDAY NIGHT
Cask and Kilt – Local rock and roll favorite JASON TURNER hits the stage at 9pm for a free show!  Jason brings lots of energy to the stage every time he performs.  Check out his video below and bring out your friends early for a huge time at Cask and Kilt

Big Rax – BIG PARTY TONIGHT. It’s the owners’ (Jarrett) birthday and in celebration, Ryan West is bringing his full band to hit the stage at 10pm. Ryan West brings a big country sound to the stage that has been popular here for years!

SATURDAY NIGHT
Big Rax – Another HUGE night of country music with local favorite COLE TAYLOR takes the stage.  Cole has recently been burning up the SouthEast with performances in Nashville and Braves Stadium.  One of his original songs has recently been used on a national television show!  Cole is poised to hit it big time very soon. Better check him out before he’s swept up and taken out of SOWEGA!

Cask and Kilt – Get your dance on! Live DJ all night long! 2.00 well drinks! Not into country music? Cask is the place to get your groove on, safe and secure that no bad elements will mess up your night!

Play safe, Albany Uncovered will see you tonight!

Shouldn’t have to worry about avoiding fights! Shouldn’t have to walk in fear. Shouldn’t have to worry about something like what happened the other night happening at family events. This town has gotten to bad

I call bullshit on this article. How to avoid fights in Albany? walk away. find security. You have only talkes about 3 bars in Albany in this article and have ignored the rest of this city … You should change your name to Northwest Albany Undercovered

Nothing wrong with downtown. Lots of great happenings in the area. Downtown Arts Coalition with their Deck of Arts and Nights@DTown are two of the best things I’ve seen in a while in this town. Bars on the northwest side tend to be a bit more clique based than downtown where you get to meet people and even the cliques are very open and welcoming. Give downtown a chance and if you like what you see, by all means, help to clean it up and make it a place that makes you feel proud to live in Albany. Make this town the notable and wonderful place I know it can be.

I commend Rob for allowing the negative comments about his story , on this page…However, I thought Rob (The Author) was more unbaised than this, (even knowing he makes a living off of ads and those who pay him for statements.), in this case the bars mentioned…(nothing wrong with that). The problem is that this whole town is equally crappy and amatuerly managed. Furthermore, Rob knows that many more downtown events “go off” without any problems.

The general rule of this town is dont go to any event that is free.(unfortuneatly) The more you have to pay for a show, is the more the undesirables (WHITE + BLACK) will not show up.

Well we appreciate the Cask & Kilt ,& Big Rax also, But to be honest , We’ve played at Bayou’s several times , Lee Pub , River Pointe, & Putney Oyster bar, We have never witnessed any fights at any of these places . I Think they are all Great places.

He’s right! The way to avoid fights is to go where there ain’t no blacks. I’m with you, Rob. We need to take back Albany!

As one of the owners of the Cask N Kilt, I would like to start off by saying we were not aware of this article nor were we aware that our business was going to mentioned in it. On that note, I would like to also say that everyone who has posted about the other venue’s are correct. There are plenty of other establishments in Albany that are safe and fun to visit. I personally have spent plenty of time in Downtown Albany, at Mellow Mushroom, Charlie B’s, went to OTP and the Crow Bar when they were open and I had great time at all of them.
