It’s time for the ‘boys of summer’ to take back to the field.
It’s baseball time in Lee County. That means time for the parents to start the crazy schedule, time for the kids to dream of home runs and double plays. Spring break is almost on us and surely the end of school cant be far behind.
Practice started about a month ago for hundreds of young players and the great collection of coaches that generously donate their time (and often their nerves) to teach our newest generation the important skills of teamwork, coordination, and most importantly sportsmanship as well as the art of learning how to lose gracefully. These are skills that are vital to us all as we begin to mature and take our places in this world. Lee County takes baseball seriously and it shows in the eyes of the children and parents each evening. Practice or gametime, it doesnt matter – everyone will be hustling for at least the next few months!

The opening ceremonies of the season kicked off last night. Justin Willis, baseball afficianado and beloved child of Lee County threw out the first pitch to officially start the new season! Prince Chevrolet presented the league with a generous donation of $500.00 and local student Marlee Graham delivered a beautiful rendidtion of the National Anthem while 100s of parents and athletes stood in honor of our flag!
Last year, one team from Lee County, didn’t learn too much about having to lose gracefully. At the end of the regular season a group of young men were selected for the “Lee County National All Stars” team. These young men played 35 games in post season with only one loss. Their 34-1 post season record snagged this fantastic team the Georgia State Championship for T-ball league. Tonight this team, the boys and their coaches, were honored with a special sign that will hang on the leagues t-ball fields for years to come.
Congratulations to the following coaches and team members for bringing this honor home to Lee County.
- Evan Odom
- Will Henderson
- Peyton Tompkins
- Kaden Schlegel
- Gavin Lacey
- Jacob Osborne
- Billy Myler
- Jamarion Jones
- Landon Lyon

Let’s all have a great season and perhaps another group of young men can bring the State Championship back home to Lee County this year!
