Messendger Returns

Messendger Returns

Messandger has been around the world with their music. From Albany, GA to the MTV studios and on to a European Tour Messandger never stopped. They just keep reinventing themselves.

Hear the name “Messendger” and your thoughts automatically turn to “Rock and Roll.” Born in 1978 as a five-piece,
tight southern rock outfit featuring Allen Poole, Eddie Robinson, Jessie Glover, Dwayne Bowden and Brad Sayre the band sprouted wings and immediately took off!

Almost over-nite, the band became one of Georgia’s best known touring bands, playing all over the country to ecstatic packed houses everywhere. But it was not to be, and the pressures of trying to balance home life with road life took it’s toll, and after five years on the road the band morphed into a three-piece power trio and continued to evolve and tour!.

By 1982, the band had signed with manager Perry Statiras and recorded their first album and shot their first video. Immediately, “MTV” came calling and by the spring of 1983, the band became the first band from Georgia to be on “MTV” and received heavy rotation status. This led to bigger and better venues to showcase the band.

The band began relentless touring and in the process came across lead singer, Danny Joe Brown, who had just left the original “Molly Hatchet” band. They joined forces and began touring as “Danny Joe Brown and Messendger.” Creative differences arose and Messendger eventually released Danny Joe and returned to the three-piece format they loved.

By 1990, Messendger was back in the studio to record their first CD titled “Back.” The touring continued and once again fate stepped in and introduced the band to Ray Sawyer, former lead singer of the original “Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show” band. Messendger came on board and formed “Dr Hook featuring Ray Sawyer.” In this format the band toured for years playing in more than a dozen countries around the world to audiences of up to 100,000 fans.

Once again the band grew hungry for that special magic that only the three-piece band could provide, so they parted ways with Ray.

Fast forward to present day 2012 and “Messendger” is once again ready to conquer the world! The 2012 version consists of three original members, Allen Poole on bass and vocals, Eddie Robinson on drums, and Jesse Glover on guitar and vocals.

Sept 28th and Oct 19th 2012 Messandger takes the stage at Cask and Kilt for a totally free show.
