RUMORS RUMORS RUMORS – Is Cask and Kilt Closing?

Albany is a town of rumors. It often seems much more like a ‘small town’ than the population would seem to suggest. Lets clear up a couple of them.

For the last few months, I’ve heard and been asked “Is cask and kilt closing”? “Is Vikki giving up her part of the business?” “What happened to the Cask, it’s not as busy as it once was”?

Has their business fallen off? Lets not sugar coat it. Yes, it has. However, I can tell you for a 100% fact, Cask and Kilt is not closing.

The question is WHY has this happened and what is being done to stop it. First, due to some health reasons, the rambunctious 1/2 owner and manager Vikki has to take some time away from the bar. Look for her to be getting much more ‘hands on’ very soon, in fact…. Look for her tonight! Due to some scheduling issues, The brassy bitch herself will be back behind the bar, slinging the drinks tonight and tomorrow night as she personally hosts what she is calling ‘Rumors Party’

Heck, I’ve even heard rumors that one reason Vikki is absent is that she got the Manager, Alicia Kuhn pregnant. Yep, that’s right. It would seem that, according to rumors, Vikki used to be a man and impregnated Alicia! Wait, that doesn’t make sense…. oh well, this is how rumors in the Bany go!

Another recent problem that has plagued Cask is moving their live music to Friday nights and installing a DJ on Saturday night. Seems the out and about crowd didn’t like what the DJ was spinning on Saturday. Now that the Fall Season ( and it’s usual uptick on the amount of people going out) is almost upon us, Cask has decided to jump back into the live music scene with a vengeance. Over the next two months, Cask will be hosting some serious bands on it’s newly enlarged stage. With live music every Friday and Saturday night, Cask and Kilt is going to be a rocking place to be!

Tonight, it starts off with Dan Crowder and friends on the stage from 9-12. The upcoming line up for September and October is going to knock your socks off! Bands you’ve never seen in Cask before! The reunion of bands you thought were gone from the scene! Touring Acts that are going to rock the house! Major regional country acts as well!

Get down to Cask tonight and say ‘hi’ to Vikki busting her *^& behind the bar. Tell her how much you appreciate it and that you want to help set the rumors straight

As a patron of Cask, I can tell you the atmosphere there is NOT what it was when it was new. I was once a pub. A place to go hang out, meet new people, and have conversations. This was THE place for socializing. Such is not the case now. It now has the feel of “trying” to be a bar like any other. Cask and Kilt was a great “pub”. It is not a great “club”.
I know and love the staff and the owners, I will continue to be a regular, but all changes are not for the better. And I for one, would hate to lose an establishment like Cask.

I have to agree with Amanda, when it was new and had more of a pub feel I frequented it much more often, though, I know having an event style venue is better for the proprietors. I still go when it is slower, and it reminds me of true pubs back home. I would be sad indeed should the Cask close.

people in this town need to learn how to support local music. We love what the cask is doing for the music community.

And that is why we are changing back Amanda. We are going back to the basics and having our local talent come show their talents we are going back to the Pub!!!!

The restaurant is going under because of a DJ and Live music that starts late at night? What about what goes on during the day? I remember cask and kilt in January and again in february and it was still dead… There were wasnt a DJ… just live but it was still only about 12 people inside… something had to be going on before then….
