Corporal Sutton was stationed at Camp Lejune North Carolina since December of 2009 where he was attached to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. In January of 2012, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines deployed to Afghanistan again to conduct counter-insurgency operations North Helmand Province. Thank you Albany Uncovered for sharing this tribute to our Hometown Hero. Thank you to the Sutton Family and LCpl Sutton for the ultimate sacrifice. God Bless.
I feel like I watched him grow up. I remember him as one of the tallest kids who ever squeezes into a desk in my tenth grade English classroom. He always had to have a seat in the front of the room so that there was a place for those long legs. But underneath the muscle and bulk, he was all teddy bear. Who would have thought that this teddy bear giant would grow up to be a hero for our country!? I wish I could have foreseen that back then so that I could have thanked him in person. I’m very proud of him for his commitment to serve his country. Thank you, Big Steve.
Rest in peace my brother,Rejoice in heaven and God rest your soul.SEMPER FI
